We ask that the books donated be in good condition. If the books are soft covered that they be new or close to it. The libraries are stocked with books that range from preschool to adults. We are grateful for donations of any age. Books can be dropped off at Corpus Christi Church (at the corner of Pembroke and Evergreen Rd.) at the office or the East side door of the convent by the driveway leading to the playground.
Take a book, leave a book — It’s free!
For pre-school to adults!
The Little Free Library program will begin in May and end October. The books will be accessible twenty-four hours a day/seven days a week.Little Library boxes are small unlocked cabinets, permanently positioned on a post/structure within neighborhoods stocked with various book. The purpose is to freely share books and encourage reading. Originally the concept included returning books or replacing them with other books. (http://littlefreelibrary.org/.) There are currently 4 different Little Library boxes within the neighborhood. NWDYC anticipates serving 200 residents with the program. The library will promote reading and hopefully increase the literacy skills of residents who do not have transportation to the library.
Sponsored by Northwest Detroit Youth Coalition.
